The South Water Purification Plan is one of two water purification plants that
serve nearly five million people in the city of Chicago and 118 suburbs.
The project included a 37,000 SF structure designed to house new chlorine
processing equipment. The installation of new chlorination equipment, new
water lines, a new electrical feeder from an existing substation, provisions for
new emergency scrubbers, new hoisting equipment, new compressed air equipment,
improvements to the process control system and miscellaneous work to complete
installation. Site work included roadway improvements and 40 new parking
spaces.
