The Hanover Park Fire Station No. 1 is located at 6850 Barrington Road,
Hanover Park, Illinois. This 26,374 SF facility features five garage bays
that allow equipment parking, storage and staging. The two story structure
includes second floor living quarters for twelve on-site personnel, men’s
and women’s locker rooms and two slide poles. The daily administrative
operations are located on the first floor including offices and conference
room. The lower level includes a large training room and exercise room.
Constructed of masonry load-bearing walls
with steel-supported precast plank floors, a hot water heating
system, and ducted air circulation. During construction our
team discovered contaminated soil and removed 6,000 cubic
yards of soil and replaced it with stone.
Through value-engineering with the Architect, Sente Rubel
Bosman Lee Architects, we were able to provide a more
efficient heating system by using more boilers, of a smaller
size, which enables more control and efficiency. The Owner
saved in excess of $20,000. The project broke ground on June 1st
2005 and was officially dedicated July 22nd
2006.
