The new Miles Davis Academy will be located at 6730 S. Paulina Street,
Chicago, Illinois in the Englewood neighborhood.
The PBC approved The George Sollitt/Oakley Construction Joint Venture as
the general contractor for this new 100,000 square foot three story
elementary school. The school will include large classrooms,
science, art and music rooms along with a library, gymnasium, kitchen and
dining area.
The new school will be steel frame construction and exterior brick.
It will meet the U.S. Green Building Council’s standards for LEED
(Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), and is part of Mayor
Richard M. Daley’s $1 billion “Modern Schools Across Chicago” program.
This project extends our long standing successful relationship with the
PBC and will be the third LEED
school
we will complete for the Chicago Public Schools. The project will
meet high efficiency and include a vegetative roof garden. Miles
Davis Academy is scheduled for completion June 2008. |
