Green Buildings - LEED™
It is estimated that construction and demolition
waste make up approximately 25 percent of material entering
municipal landfills in the United States, and that up to 90 percent
of the waste is recyclable.
While many in the industry have at least heard of
sustainable or Green Building, there is a large number that
do not have the practical experience or a solid understanding of
what sustainable design and construction really is. Foremost
it involves a collaborative team effort with the
architect, engineer, owner and contractor to really make it work.
Green Buildings require a builder to have a clear vision of the LEED™
(Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) whole-building
process, with the focused experience to maintain the strict budgets,
deliver on schedule demands and meet all technical requirements.
LEED™ is a voluntary standard rating system,
developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), that defines
high performance "green" buildings. These standards promote energy
efficient and environmentally responsible structures that will
generate long-term benefits.
